ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Detroit, Emell Derra Adolphus is a New York City-based journalist and writer whose humorous essays, columns and investigative reports have appeared in numerous publications, including The Daily Beast, Queerty, USA Today, ENR Magazine, Crain's, and many more.

He is currently senior editor for surveys and rankings at ENR Magazine and a video columnist and editor for Edge Media Network.

"Feature writing is an exercise in editorial tightrope walking," Emell likes to say. "A well-written story can change minds, call communities to the table while calling others on the carpet. And nothing compares to the thrill of finding that first true sentence."
